This policy explains what Walstad Automotive does with the information you send us through this website. It is written in plain English on purpose — you should not need a lawyer to find out what happens to your phone number.

The short version

We collect what you type into our forms so we can get back to you about your vehicle. We do not sell it, rent it, or trade it. That is genuinely the whole thing.

What we collect

What you give us. When you request an appointment, ask a question, fill out a drop-off form or leave a review, we receive what you typed — typically your name, phone number, email address, vehicle details, and a description of the problem.

What your browser sends automatically. Like nearly every website, our servers record standard technical information: IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you viewed, and the time you viewed them. We use this to keep the site working and to understand which pages people actually read.

We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, driver's license number, bank details, or card numbers. Do not send those through this website. If a payment is needed, we will handle it in person at the shop.

Why we collect it

To contact you about the request you made. To schedule and perform the work. To keep a service history for your vehicle. To answer questions and resolve problems. And, if you have asked us to, to send you a reminder when your vehicle is due for service.

That is the complete list. We do not build advertising profiles from it.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your information.
• We do not rent or trade it.
• We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not send marketing you did not ask for.

Who else may see it

Only the people who have to, in order for the site to function — our website host, our email provider, and the parts or service partners directly involved in your repair. They may only use it to provide that service to us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses a small number of cookies to keep it working properly and to measure which pages are visited. Your browser lets you block or delete cookies; the site will still work if you do, though some conveniences may not.

We do not use cookies to follow you around other websites.

Reviews you submit

If you submit a review through this site, we may publish it — including your first name, last initial, city, and the service performed. We publish reviews as written. If you would rather yours not appear, or you want it removed after the fact, call the shop and we will take it down.

How long we keep it

Service and vehicle records are kept as long as they are useful for maintaining your vehicle and as long as any warranty on the work may still apply. Form submissions that do not become service records are kept only as long as we need them to follow up with you.

Your choices

• Stop hearing from us. Tell us, in a reply or by phone, and we will stop.
• See what we have. Call and ask, and we will tell you what is in your file.
• Correct it. If something is wrong, we will fix it.
• Have it deleted. Ask, and we will delete what we are not required to keep.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law. If you believe you do, contact us and we will work through it with you.

Children

This site is meant for adults arranging vehicle service. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, call us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you send us. No website can promise perfect security, and we are not going to pretend otherwise — which is exactly why we ask you not to send financial or identity documents through this site.

Links to other sites

Some pages link to other websites — parts manufacturers, tire brands, mapping services. Once you follow one, you are on their site under their policy, not ours.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page. Meaningful changes will be noted here rather than made quietly.
